Kenya Kissoon
Kissoon’s bio:
Kenya Kissoon is a second-semester sophomore in the honors program and is in dual admissions BS/MA program in Criminal Justice. She aspires to work as an FBI profiler all while advocating for change and the greater good. She is inspired by creativity, music and sports. While she is at John Jay, she hopes to get the chance to join one of the athletic teams and cross it off her list of achievements.
This poem is one of the many, multi-genre writings in Kissoon’s portfolio:
It kinda makes sense
Ball is life
That’s what all the boys
And all the sporty girls said
But what’s the meaning
It consumed me
Consumed my soul
My body and mind
But certainly
It only seemed to consume, me
But perhaps
That remained a dream
A dream where I was no longer
Grumpy
Because then,
I became a different me
A not so grumpy me
